What makes an Angel Team?

Angel Athlete-rider

These athletes "Roll With the Wind" in life and in endurance events...our inspiration and our purpose. Anyone with a disAbility that prevents them from racing on their own may participate as an Angel Athlete-rider.  Like all of our Angels, there is no fee to register to become an Angel Athlete-rider. On race day, we fit each rider for a chair to use during the event and pair them with an Angel Runner (unless the rider has a specific runner request).

Angel Runners
These athletes have the honor of pushing or being pulled by our Angel Athlete-riders. New Angel Runners are placed with an experienced an similiar paced Angel Runner for thier first few races.  This ensures the safety of the athlete-riders and gives the A
ngel Runner an opportunity to become familiar with the equipment.

Mission of an Ainsley's "Angel Team"
An 'Angel Team' consists of (1) Angel Athlete-rider and up to (3) Angel runners being pulled.  The team works together to SAFELY accomplish the mission, while staying together and having fun.   The Angel Athlete-rider is the core of the team and pulls the runner across the finish line with smiles, cheers and immeasurable inspirational spirit.  With the health and well-being of the Angel Athlete-rider as of the foremost priority, the 'Angel Team' works together to SAFELY accomplish the mission, while staying together and having fun.   What we do with race director permission and understanding, as well as through our Ainsley's Angels Race Series events, is unique in that we always have athletes of all abilities competing on our courses.  As such, we need to ensure all athletes understand the "rules of the road".  The aim to stay to the far right on the course and refrain from running side-by-side with other 'Angel teams'.  If they need to pass, they will announce "Passing Angels of your right/left" for all to hear.  After passing, the team will quickly return to the far right.  All athletes that hear the 'Passing Angels' call, should immediately make eye contact with the team and maintain direction and pace, as appropriate.

The 'Fine Print'

Ainsley's Angles Race Series events and our involvement in local community events is made possible by our Angel Athlete-rider and the Angel runners that volunteer their legs to ensure mission accomplishment.  If you are registering as an Angel runner, know that the 'Angel team' shall work in sync to SAFELY accomplish the mission, while staying together and having fun.  Remember, the health, safety, and well-being of the Angel Athlete-rider is first and foremost and that Ainsley's Angels of America reserves the right to refuse a request to serve as an "Angel" at any time, given the results of random background checks or indications of selfishness.  Together, We Shall!
